2015 FEMCA 1/8th Off-Road Buggy Championship

2015 FEMCA 1/8th Off-Road Buggy Championship…

Competing in both EP and IC at the 2015 FEMCA Buggy Championships in Perth, Shane O’Connor proves to be on his usual form. The multiple NZ EP Off-Road Champ has been proving his pace in IC over the last few years here in NZ. After winning all 4 of his qualifiers he is sitting in 15th place overall.  O’Connor is so far the highest ranked NZ Racer at this years event. He is currently sitting in 5th for EP Buggy overall.

Shane Van Gisbergen is currently sitting one position below O’Connor in 16th overall. Although NZ Born, residing in Australia sees SVG racing under the Auzzie flag at this years event. In NZ fashion we are following him as an honorary New Zealand Racer. SVG is currently sitting in 24th for EP Buggy after a DNS in Q2 and some bad luck in Q3. Once the two worse rounds are dropped he should shoot up near the top.

Gage Peters broke into the 15 Lap group in yesterday’s final Qualifier seeing him move from 29th to 27th overall. Gage has been getting faster each run and I am sure he will continue to get faster as the competition goes on, he just needs to give a few more 15 lap Qualifiers.

Going by the times posted Shane Mangu seems to be having all sorts of issues in the EP class sitting in 18th overall with his IC times staying pretty consistent putting him in 47th overall. Back in NZ Mangu has been mixing it up with IC for a little while now and is making a pretty convincing job of it. Mangu will be hoping to make the 15 lap group in the final 2 rounds of qualifying today.

Gavin Dawson is usually running EP but has been mixing it up in IC and is also competing in Both EP and IC at this event. Gavin is currently sitting in 59th in IC Buggy and after a DNS he is sitting in 27th for EP Buggy. Once again, when the 2 worse rounds are dropped Gavin should move up the ranks.

There are 2 more Qualifiers and Lower Finals will start today. Head to the NZRCA Facebook page for as they happen results and rankings.
