To make the NZ Off-road GP work we need more than 20 cars per class. We will run if less but maybe in a reduced format.
Event Information
The time has come for RC racing to change. No more 3 lap seeding, no more 5 minute qualifying, it's time to emulate full sized motorsport, and what better to emulate than F1.
Q1.
All drivers in the class have a 20 minute session to set their fastest single lap. Drivers may leave the stand, start late, make changes then rejoin but must try not interfere with laps of any other driver in the group. After 20 minutes, the fastest 12 drivers move to Q2, while the remaining drivers go to the consolation races with their best single lap time setting the grid spots from 13 backwards. LiveTime calls positions as drivers cross the timing loop.
Q2.
The Top 12 drivers move through to Q2 and all previous times are deleted. The drivers now have 4 minutes to set their fastest single lap. Drivers may start late, leave the stand, make changes and rejoin in the 4 minute period but must not interfere with laps of any other driver in the group. The top 6 move to Q3, while positions 7-12 are the starting positions for the NZ Grand Prix race. LiveTime calls positions as drivers cross the timing loop.
Q3.
Top 6 drivers have times reset and have 2 minutes to set their fastest single lap time to set grid positions 1-6 in the Grand Prix. Drivers may start late, leave the stand, make changes and rejoin but must not interfere with laps of any other driver in the group.

Qualifying
Grand Prix Qualifying is intense. 1 lap gets you through to the next stage if you can put it together. Drivers need to make room on track to complete that singular lap. Slower drivers need to look out for faster drivers on hotlaps. Drivers may come and go from the stand throughout Q1, Q2 and Q3 and make changes, whether they be tire, suspension or battery, or something different. And at the end of Q1, grid positions 13 and lower are set by the single laptime achieved.
Finals
The NZ Off-road Grand Prix will consist of one 35 lap race, for each of the 4 classes.
Consolation races will be 15 laps and up to 12 drivers for those that did not qualify through to the Grand Prix.
Consolation races grids for Positions 13 backwards will be set by the fastest lap achieved in Q1 in 12 car heats until all races are full.

Other info
We have the right to amend or update rules and regulations as we get closer to the event, after we do more testing.
Should a class entry exceed 40 cars, Q1 maybe split into smaller groups and then a reduced number of drivers from that group will go forward to Q2. However, the times set in each split group will not be combined with the fastest 12 going through, IT WILL BE the top 6 from each group moving to Q2 to make up the next 12.
