Event Information

Dirt Oval Racing is back at NZ's home of the Dirt Oval Speedway, the Citrus Bowl. New lights, timing, track and hut have allowed us to re-ignite the dirt oval racing. The new Losi 22s Sprint car PLUS Late Model and Traxxas Super Late Models & Modifieds are the key to allow us to get this disipline of racing sorted.

Entry Details

Bring warm clothes, and head torches. It is dark. We will have some pit lighting, but more is good. Power on site.

We will make an assessment and try and seed drivers in similar skill sets for qualifying. Once qualifying has been set, the heat races will resolve.

Dirt oval racing is non-contact and drivers must respect the track and other racers when re-entering or a crash. You must not impede other racers.

Classes Offered

We are going to run the 2026/27 Season rules for classes. Full details of these and any changes you need to make will be up on the RIR Facebook page and will be published with plenty of time to sort prior to the start of the event.

There will be a tech of cars required for this meeting.

Control Tyres

For all classes that are not 360Sprints/F2 Midgets/Traxxas Modifieds/Saloon tires are open.

Payment Instructions

Make payment when you register. $10 per class.

Practice

From 1300 to 1400

Qualifying

10 lap qualifiers. Best single lap over the qualifier rounds sets Mains.

Finals

Lower Mains 6 cars x 20 Laps. Top 2 finishers bump to back of next final
B Main 6 cars plus 2 bumps 30 Laps
Sprint car Feature race 4 fastest qualifiers plus 4 bumps from B Main 100 laps

All other finals 40 laps.

All Sprint Cars will need to be teched prior to qualifying. We will be checking:
Weights
Pinion/Gearing
Suspension arm geometry
Body panels

Lap Timing

VOSTOK Timing.
Reads Vostok transponders or MRT, or AMB 2Wire.
We have also purchased 12 additional transponders that are transferable from car to car during the night if you don't have one of the ones listed above. Just leave your transponder number blank and we will allocate you a rental.

Marshalling

We need 4 people to marshall the track during racing. 2 Infeild, 2 externals. We will detail more at briefing.

Pits

Power, Some lighting, bring a head torch/lamp to make moving around easier. Few tables. LED race display and TV for results.
