From the Big Chair – AGM Edition

1st October, 2026

Hi all,
On Saturday, 26 September, the NZRCA held its Annual General Meeting. It was fantastic to see so many clubs represented by delegates. On behalf of the NZRCA Executive, thank you to everyone who took the time to attend and contribute.
Once the meeting minutes are finalized, they will be posted on our website for everyone to view. These will include:
The Financial Report
The President's Report
The Technical Officers' Reports
The AGM was live-streamed on our Facebook page and the recording remains available if you'd like to catch up. A few audio patches were slightly under par, but overall everything is clear to see and hear.

Executive Updates & Welcomes
Richard Price makes a welcome return to the Executive in a dual capacity: taking on Publicity Officer alongside the newly created role of Vintage Technical Officer. Thanks for stepping up, Richard—your deep experience and insight will be invaluable to the team and the wider RC community.
Grant McEwen has graciously stepped up to take on the Secretary duties in addition to his ongoing role as EP Onroad Technical Officer. A huge thank-you to Grant for taking on this extra workload.
21.5 Touring Car Control Motor
The NZRCA received three Expressions of Interest to supply the 21.5 Touring Car class for 2027 and beyond. Each submitted motor was dyno-tested before being sent out for real-world track testing. Thank you to the racers who assisted with track testing.
Following this evaluation, the 1/10 EP Technical Officer has decided to remain with our incumbent supplier, Mainland Hobbies. We sincerely thank all the businesses that put forward an EOI and supported the process.
2026 Remits
Remits were light this year, which is always positive. These will shortly be published for licensed members to vote on. Keep an eye on your inbox for your voting link and instructions.
Life Membership: Matthew Banks
It is our absolute pleasure to announce the NZRCA’s newest Life Member: Matthew Banks.
As our current Health & Safety Officer and past President, Matt implemented countless positive initiatives and structural improvements that continue to benefit the association today.
We arranged for Scott Kendall to present Matt with his award during the AGM under the cover of helping out as interim Secretary. Thank you to Scott for facilitating the presentation and for keeping completely mum about why he was traveling to Wellington! Congratulations, Matt—thoroughly deserved.
Website Redesign – Keep an Eye Out!
Our brand-new website is well under development and packed with features designed specifically for clubs and racers.
We plan to run an online walk-through before launch so everyone can easily navigate the platform from day one. It builds on the core elements of the current site while adding some fantastic new tools. Stay tuned for dates!
Next Up: 1/8 Nitro Offroad Nationals
Next on the calendar is the 1/8 Nitro Offroad Nationals. I’m looking forward to being on site as Race Referee and teaming up with Mitch on the mic to bring you comprehensive coverage over on the Let’s Race RC channel.
On that note: if you’re an RC content creator, videographer, or streamer, get in touch! We'd love to collaborate and showcase NZRCA events together.
