From the Big Chair: Blog 7.0
Hello everyone,
Well, what an epic weekend at the first official NZRCA 1/10 Carpet / Astro Champs.
The team behind HRCCC pulled out all the stops to make this event run incredibly well. Special thanks go to the Toia family for their incredible commitment despite being sick throughout the week leading up and into the weekend, as well as club President David Sweeny for his sheer drive and determination. This guy deserves a medal—or at the very least, a high five for a job well done the next time you see him.
The vibe was on point from the moment the doors opened Friday morning, with plenty of helpers pitching in the night before to build the track, including the team from RC Race Media.
To date, this is hands-down the best RC event I have ever had the privilege of being Race Director for. The HRCCC crew absolutely nailed it and should be very proud of their efforts. Christchurch (CIRCCC) has some big shoes to fill next year, but the good news is they have already started planning. Rumour has it there are even more drivers from across the pond looking to attend V2.0 in 2027.
I also loved seeing the engagement from Hobbywing, who sent a team out for the event. Check their socials—I believe this is the first time the manufacturer has supported an event in this way!

NZRCA 2026 AGM
The AGM is scheduled for 26/09/2026 at 11:00 a.m. via Zoom. Voting packs will be sent out next week. If your club has submitted a remit, you must have an authorized representative in attendance to speak to it and enact any necessary amendments.
